General Questions

  • Animals have a diet that's as straightforward as it gets: grass. But nowadays, it’s become complicated with animals fed everything but grass: corn, soy and grains. Here at FND, we believe in raising animals as nature intended. This means allowing animals to live outdoors, under the open sky, grazing on grassy pastures. This diet, also known as 'forage on pasture', is more than just sustenance; it’s nutrition. Grass-fed meat tends to contain a wider range of plant nutrients, a healthier balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, and a richer antioxidant profile. Oh and have we mentioned how much tastier grass-fed meat is? In the grand scheme of things, the shift towards grass-fed meat isn't just a dietary trend; it's a return to our roots.

  • A major benefit of raising animals on pasture is that their products are healthier for you. For example, compared with conventional meat, meat from grass-fed beef, bison, lamb and goats has two to four times more omega-3 fatty acids*. Meat and dairy products from grass-fed animals are the richest known source of another type of healthy fat called “conjugated linoleic acid”. When animals are raised on fresh pasture alone, their products contain from three to five times more CLA* than products from animals fed conventional diets. Grass-fed meat also has more vitamin E, beta-carotene and vitamin C than grain-fed meat.

  • All of our cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished. This means that they are provided with grassy lands to graze throughout their whole life, and when high-quality fresh pasture is not available our cattle are fed stored grasses such as hay. They are never fed grain, soy, corn or other grains.

  • All of our products are 100% kosher. This means everything we sell is prepared according to traditional Jewish law (kashrut), a value we are deeply committed to at FND. We work with world-class schoctim (kosher-slaughters) to ensure our meat is certified kosher through a strict process overseen by Star K.

  • Not all of our farms are certified organic, and there’s a good reason for that. The “organic” label can be incredibly costly to obtain, especially for smaller, family-run farms. But more importantly, it doesn’t always reflect the practices that matter most to us, like raising animals on pasture or using regenerative farming methods. By selling directly to our customers, certification isn’t necessary when transparency is apart of the relationship. Instead of focusing on labels, we prioritize working with farmers who align with our principles and are committed to sustainable, ethical practices. By supporting these local farms, we can focus on what truly makes a difference—how the animals are raised, not just the labels they carry.

  • Kosher grass-fed meat stands apart from kosher conventional meat for its focus on animal welfare, nutrition, and sustainability. While kosher laws ensure strict standards during slaughter and processing, they don’t govern how animals are raised before reaching the slaughterhouse. Conventional meat often comes from grain-fed animals raised in confinement, while grass-fed meat comes from animals raised on pasture, resulting in better health and a richer, more natural flavor. Grass-fed systems also follow regenerative practices that improve soil health and reduce environmental impact. That’s why we partner with farmers who go beyond conventional standards, ensuring every cut of meat reflects our values of transparency, sustainability, and support for small family farms.

Farm & Sourcing

  • In feed-lot farming or conventional farming, the practice is to fatten cattle by feeding grain. In contrast, pasture raised cattle are fed grass and wild forage (grasses, legumes and weeds).

  • With many definitions of regenerative agriculture out there, we are focusing on a simple truth shared among farmers: health. Healthy soils means healthy plants which means healthy animals and that means healthy people. With a focus on health the whole ecosystem thrives from the ground up.

  • Conventional Agriculture is an economic system of food production that puts yield and profits over land stewardship and sustainable practices. This form of agriculture is often linked to natural resource degradation, desertification and ecosystem collapse.

  • Our first partner farm is BrookHaven Farms in Tennessee, where our animals are raised entirely on pasture using regenerative, chemical-free practices. We chose BrookHaven for their commitment to soil health, animal welfare, and their close proximity to a kosher certified processing facility, which minimizes animal stress during transport. As we grow, we’re actively seeking more farms that align with our values, ensuring every partner meets our strict criteria. We believe in full transparency, so we’ll continue to share updates on where your meat comes from. Have questions? Reach out—we love talking about our farms!

Orders & Shipping

  • Each package is carefully packed with insulation and ice packs to keep everything perfectly chilled. For further distances, we use overnight shipping with dry ice to ensure everything stays frozen. Your meat will arrive ready to go straight into your freezer, so you can enjoy it at your convenience. If you have any questions about your order, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always happy to help!

  • When your order arrives, pop it straight into the freezer (we recommend this for long-term storage). If you're ready to cook, just defrost in the fridge for 24-48 hours before cooking. For best results, don’t refreeze meat once it’s been thawed. Store it in its original packaging or an airtight container to keep things fresh.
